Computers and other electronic gadgets

Well, I have been working on alot of computers lately. I find this good and bad. Good because I like the influx of money nad bad because I have to deal with Windows. One of the projects was to make a program or find one that would back up a database file daily and about every 10 days or so, write over the older files. My Uncle whom has a computer based career gave me a program called Robocopy. It is a great program. I like it because it is 100% text based. I used a batch file to make it all work and then used the dreaded Task Scheduler to make it work at the appointed time in the evenings after the buisness closed. It has been working for almost a week. My parents have cancelled most of their Direct TV stuff and started with this Netflix thing. So far it is okay, but I have one huge problem. Normally I do not get Dvds until they are on the 5.99 rack at Wally World, so I had no clue that this was going to happen. We got in an older and a newer movie, "Clear and Present Danger" and "Walk the Line". Both of them where pretty good, BUT neither one of them would run all the way through wile I was using Xine to play them. I tried to update xine, but that did not help. So I went to the dreaded Windows partiotion and tried VLC. VLC would not play them either. The only program that I had on my computer that would play them was Window$ Media player, and I had to allow it access to the internet to update because I have not let it update since I installed windows.
My dad was complaining about his blue tooth ear device so he bought himself a new one and gave me the old one. So, now if you see me, you will more than likely see me walking around with it on my ear. It is all sorts of fun. At home, I can leave the phone on my desk while it charges ( the V710 has a VERY short battery life) and walk around the house with the headpiece on. I can still make calls while IN the house, but if I get very far out of the house, the Bluetooth will disconnect. Darn. Oh well.
On another note, I was talking to someone the other day about Tesla. He was an interesting scientist that had all sorts of inventions that were FAR more advanced than his time. Like he had a way to wirelessly transfer electricity to any device within a certain range of his antennea. I have heard of this invention, but for some reason I have not been able to find much information about it. I am willing to bet that it has something to do with money. Where are they going to put the power meter? I would like to do some more research on the subject, but there never seems to be enough time in the day.
I have been looking for a small laptop for my truck. I have decided that it would be interesting to mount a computer to my dash so that I can have a multifunctional computer for my truck. I already have a gps unit for laptops and the software to go with it. Unfortunatly, it is for windows. I have about 10 gigs of MP3s (don't worry, I have ALL the cds that these mp3s came from), so I would liek to hook this laptop to my truck's speakers. That is easy enough. So far, the hardest 2 things is finding the laptop and/or the mounting bracket. I have a laptop, but if I use it, I will want to be able to remove the laptop from the truck. So, I have been looking at RAM mounts. Unfortunatly, they do not show a model that will fit my truck (so that I can copy their design) and I do not want to pay $200 plus dollars for one. Looks like this one is going to have to be a home done job. Well, I ahve to be at work in about 5 hours and I have not been to sleep. Later.
