Colleges
This is a negative post, you may want to skip it, but then atain it is a good read for incoming freshman to take into consideration.
School is just around the corner. I hate to break it to you, but it is. I have been having all sorts of "fun" trying to get everything lined up for this next semester. It would seem that schools would be more than willing to help you out after you paid them tons of money, but it seems that is not the case. I have had to jump through all sorts of hoops lately to get my transcripts sent from one school to another. If I were to do it my way, I would just get each school to hand me a print out of the transcript of that school and I would hand devliver it to TSTC. Seeing that my way of things is not buricratic enough, that is not how schools do it. First off, most schools sent transcripts electronically, but TSTC does not do that. So, there was a wonderful mess up taking weeks to find out what was happening. Then it gets better. I ask for them to be resent. For TJC, I filled out 4 request forms over a period of 6 weeks, but only 2 are on record with one of them being an electronic transfer. With UT Tyler, one request was sent electronically before I discovered that I can not get it done that way, while the others were all blocked because there was a hold on my account at UT Tyler. It gets better. I call UT Tyler to find out 5 weeks later to find out why TSTC has not recieved my transcript from them, and they then inform me of the hold. So, I transfer over to the engineering department to remove the hold. I had to talk to 6 diffrent people before I was able to get it through their heads that I was not taking courses at UT this year or ever again if I had any say in it. I am currently at the point of waiting to see if they have sent it. TJC has sent theirs, but it has been 10 days (8 buisness) and they have not recieved it. Wonderful. So, next is to find out where I am staying. Well, seeing how I was having trouble with getting transcripts sent, I used DHL to send my housing application, deposit check, and immunization records. Somewhere there is at TSTC, they have lost the deposit check. They have the immunization records, but it took them 4 weeks to find the housing application for the dorms at which time the dorms were full. So, today/night before I go to bed, I have to fill out an apartment application form and send an online (lots better) deposit so that I will have a place to stay this next semester. Because I have to live in the oncampus apartments, I am going to have to pay almost $2,000 more for the school year. That HURT. It should not be too much of a problem, but that does mean that I am going to have to actually find more work for the rest of the semester and hopefully I will not have to pay for too many more extra expenses due to electricity bills or anything of the sort. Fun, fun.
On a brighter note, I read some blags today/night and looked at Rachel's wedding pictures that are on the Gullman family website. Highly recomended. I wish that I had been there, but it was either that or miss work. Unfortunatly, most overnight positions anywhere do not generally have enough help so that they can cover all work on a regular basis. That is why overnight positions generally get paid more so there is an incentive to come to work. Well, I am falling asleep in my computer chair. Time to take a nape. Later
